Are the Simpsons Hobbits?

Hey, dudes, a friend of mine told me Homer and his family are actually hobbits - so-called Yellow Hobbits whose ancestors resided east of Rhûn for a long time. Is this true?

This topic has exercised some of the finest minds of Oxford, Sorbonne and Bedlam. It is true that there are some undeniably hobbitish things about the Simpsons, particularly Homer's fondness for beer and his wife's hairstyle. On the other hand, we are told that Homer works for Mr Burns, who is clearly a Silvan Elf. That goes agains all natural behaviour among Hobbits, so the discussion remains unresolved.

At the same time, few would deny that Ned Flanders is an Ent, particularly the upper reaches of him.

Now that I has become known that Marge Simpson is "Playboy's" cover girl for the November issue, we can say with certainty that the Simpsons are not hobbits, Hobbits would never engage in such immoral acts.
